Tesco is set to create 800 jobs at its new import storage facility in Middlesbrough.

The retailer will recruit staff through Jobcentre Plus for its Teesport Distribution Centre.

David Potts, UK retail operations director, said: "As well as creating 800 jobs, the centre will also deliver major environmental benefits and will significantly reduce the number of lorries on the roads."

The facility will replace the company's non-food distribution centre in Coventry, which is no longer able to cope with the volume of products required to pass through it.
